Junior golfers are welcome in Myrtle Beach.
Most courses allow juniors (16 and under)to play free or at a reduced rate with a paid adult.
Most golf courses have qualified PGA instructors to give lessons.
Some golf facilities have on site golf schools available.
Myrtle Beach's altitude is less than 30 feet in most areas.
The ball just does not go as far as it does back home.
The Bermuda grass is overseeded in the fall, so that the
courses will be green in the Winter and the Spring.
Shortly after the greens have been overseeded, the grass may be a
little longer than usual and putt very slow.
Shortly after the fairways have been overseeded, they will need to be kept wet.
If you are playing a course with wet fairways, they will restrict the carts to the cart paths.
The fairways are usually lush with grass, expect little or no roll.
For best results use an extra club or two on each shot.
The golf courses in are in their poorest conditions, the last two weeks of May and
the month June.
The Rye grass dies out in late Spring, the Bermuda grass begins to recover and grow.
The golf courses usually aerifiy the greens during this time period.
It is recommended that you do not play greens that have been aerified until two weeks have past.
Remember in the Winter, it can even be cold in Myrtle Beach, bring appropriate clothing.
Remember in the Summer, it is going to be hot.
Dress codes are enforced at most golf courses.
NO CUT OFF SHORTS - NO CUT OFF JEANS
NO REGULAR JEANS
NO TANK TOPS - NO TEE SHIRTS WITH LOGOS, DESIGNS OR SAYINGS
Plain or designer shirts with round collar are usually acceptable, but not always.
Have a change of clothes, if you aren't sure.
Remember to take your golf package tickets / vouchers with you.
