Grip Placement
The Golf Factory explains grip placement the third of ten
distinctions between the two prefect golf swings.
The two perfect golf swings are The Centrifugal Force Swing (swinging swing) and
The Muscular Force Swing (hitting swing).
The third distinction is GRIP PLACEMENT, how the hands are placed on the grip of the club in relationship to
the basic plane line, can also be called the target line or the swing plane, the angle formed by the clubshaft
and the ground when the clubhead is properly soled.
The Grip Placement for the Centrifugal Force Swing (The Swinging Swing) the hands are vertical to the
basic plane line. Opening the plane line will cause the ball location to be further back in the stance
and a normal swing will produce a fade. Closing the plane line will cause the ball to be further forward
in the stance and a normal swing will produce a draw.
The Grip Placement for the Muscular Force Swing (The Hitting Swing) at least one of the hands are parallel
to the swing plane. While the clubface remains aligned to the target line, moving the ball back in the
stance will produce a draw, moving the ball forward will produce a fade.
The third distinction, the grip, how the hands are placed on the grip either vertical to the plane line and
swing plane for the swinging swing or parallel to the swing plane for the hitting swing. Ball location aft or
forward, produced opposite ball flights for each swing.
