Discover championship golf on Myrtle Beach's North Grand Strand.
A lonely road leading off Highway 17 just north of Little River, SC. is a narrow, two-lane strip of highway,
live oak wishing trees overhanging the road along the way. Preceding down this rural route, from under the trees
appears a small-town, with coastal charm that many never venture to visit, Calabash, North Carolina. This is a
completely different atmosphere from North Myrtle Beach, with oceanfront high-rise condos and entertainment
options at every turn. As different as these two areas are, they are drawn together by championship golf and help
to give the north end of the Grand Strand its special appeal.
North Myrtle Beach is the home of "Restaurant Row" featuring Calabash style buffets as well as high end fine
dining, to name just a few, Thoroughbreds, Cagney's and Rossi's and nightlife galore. The further one travels
north, the slower the pace becomes. Little River, the most northern section of the South Carolina's Grand Strand,
has some of the states best charter fishing and wonderful views of the Intra coastal Waterway.
Brunswick County lies just across the state line and stretches to Wilmington, North Carolina. Before golf was
introduced into Brunswick County, it was a sleepy rural North Carolina locale. Golf came to Brunswick County in
the early 1980's, with the opening of Marsh Harbor, one of the best courses ever built on the Grand Strand. Marsh
Harbor, closed in the 2003. If you did not have the chance to play it, you missed a real treat. Headliners in
the Brunswick Isles are Brunswick Plantation, Crow Creek, Oyster Bay, Rivers Edge, and The Thistle.
North Myrtle Beach golf is lead by: Tidewater, one of the top 100 courses you can play, Long Bay Club, a classic
Jack Nicklaus course, Glen Dornoch, with the three hardest finishing holes a golfer would every want to
challenge, and the four Barefoot Resort Courses.
